It's Time For A Sober Awakening!

1 John 2:16-17 (GOD’S WORD Translation)16Not everything that the world offers—physical gratification, greed, and extravagant lifestyles—comes from the Father. It comes from the world, and 17the world and its evil desires are passing away. But the person who does what God wants lives forever.

Salvation comes to save you from yourself and to save you for the Glory of Jesus.

Christian life is often presented to us as all the benefits that God came to give us. Instead of calling us to deny ourselves Jesus is mainly presented to us as the one who offers – physical gratification, greed and extravagant lifestyles-.

We have been guilty of believing that God exist for us rather of us existing for Him. The gifts that God gives us- forgiveness of sin, increase in our finances, good marriages, healing in our body, revival, “feeling” the anointing, etc.- are to lead us into the exaltation of the Giver.

We have been guilty of serving God based on what He can do for us.
Philippians 3:7-9 (GOD’S WORD Translation) 7These things that I once considered valuable, I now consider worthless for Christ. 8It’s far more than that! I consider everything else worthless because I’m much better off knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. It’s because of him that I think of everything as worthless. I threw it all away in order to gain Christ 9and to have a relationship with him. This means that I didn’t receive God’s approval by obeying his laws. The opposite is true! I have God’s approval through faith in Christ. This is the approval that comes from God and is based on faith.

It’s time for the church to sober up and see that we have been bewitched to believe that God is just our sugar daddy! It’s time to stop serving a selfless God with our selfish behaviors!

Are you prayers full of request and not full of adoration of the Most High King?
Are you easily moved with compassion and love towards others (outside of your family)?
Are you giving or are you always looking to for what you can get or gain?
Do you serve God at your convenience?
Do you praise God only when you “feel” Him?
Are you willing forsake all for the sake of Christ: Mother, Father, Sister, Brother, wife, or child even your own life

**This is note for those that claim you are in a cult when you no longer move the way they want you to**

This is the words of JESUS: Luke 14:26-27 (GOD’S WORD Translation)
26“If people come to me and are not ready to abandon their fathers, mothers, wives, children, brothers, and sisters, as well as their own lives, they cannot be my disciples. 27So those who do not carry their crosses and follow me cannot be my disciples.

And the big Question: Are still trying to live in the world and in church?
1 John 2:15-17 (GOD’S WORD Translation)
15Don’t love the world and what it offers. Those who love the world don’t have the Father’s love in them. 16Not everything that the world offers—physical gratification, greed, and extravagant lifestyles—comes from the Father. It comes from the world, and 17the world and its evil desires are passing away. But the person who does what God wants lives forever.

So I challenge you to deny yourself (Jesus Said it first) Luke 9:23-25 (GWT)
23He said to all of them, “Those who want to come with me must say no to the things they want, pick up their crosses every day, and follow me. 24Those who want to save their lives will lose them. But those who lose their lives for me will save them. 25What good does it do for people to win the whole world but lose their lives by destroying them?

In all that you do, do it for the GLORY OF GOD- 1 Cor 10:3131So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything to the glory of God.

Throw off everything that hinders you1Since we are surrounded by so many examples of faith, we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially sin that distracts us. We must run the race that lies ahead of us and never give up. 2We must focus on Jesus, the source and goal of our faith. He saw the joy ahead of him, so he endured death on the cross and ignored the disgrace it brought him. Then he received the highest position in heaven, the one next to the throne of God.

And keep your love geared towards God and not personal gain Rev 2:2-4 2I know what you have done—how hard you have worked and how you have endured. I also know that you cannot tolerate wicked people. You have tested those who call themselves apostles but are not apostles. You have discovered that they are liars. 3You have endured, suffered trouble because of my name, and have not grown weary. 4However, I have this against you: The love you had at first is gone.

Sober up! DENY yourself all just the FIND yourself!
